After two weeks, the Heisman race is still in its early stages. A lot of players have burst onto the scene, but the usual suspects are still at the top. After week 2, here is my list.

Colt McCoy, Texas QB: McCoy had another impressive game in Texas’ rout of Wyoming, throwing for 337 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added 38 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. So far this season he has thrown for 654 yards and 5 touchdowns with 2 interceptions to go with his rushing touchdown. McCoy continues to prove why he among the greatest quarterbacks in Texas history. Look for McCoy to avenge last season’s loss to Texas Tech with a huge game this Saturday.

Tim Tebow, Florida QB: Tebow had another dominating performance Saturday in Florida’s blowout of Troy, throwing for 237 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 71 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Tebow is still the best dual threat in college football, as he has thrown for 425 yards and 5 touchdowns and rushed for 2 more in just two games. Tebow and the Gators will try to make a statement when Lane Kiffin and Tennessee visit the Swamp on Saturday.

Jahvid Best, California RB: Bradford’s injury is Best’s gain as the running back continues to impress. Best rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 19 yards and another score in Cal’s 59-7 throttling of Eastern Michigan. This season Best has rushed for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns and caught 4 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. Look for Best to have another big game when Cal travels to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers.

Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame QB: Clausen did everything he could to help to Irish win against Michigan on Saturday in the Big House, but his stellar performance fell just short as Notre Dame’s defense could not hold the team’s fourth quarter lead. Clausen threw for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 38-34 loss. So far this season Clausen has thrown for 651 yards and 7 touchdowns. The loss hurts Clausen’s chances but if Notre Dame can rebound he will be able to stay in the hunt. Look for Clausen and Notre Dame to bounce back against Michigan State on Saturday.

Daryll Clark, Penn State QB: Clark has started the 2009 season on a hot streak, leading the Nittany Lions to a 2-0 start. Last Saturday against Syracuse Clark threw for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 28-7 victory. So far the season Clark has thrown 593 yards and 6 touchdowns. If Clark can keep Penn State near the top of the rankings as he did last year, he has a decent shot of being invited to New York at the end of the season. Look for Clark to have another big game against Temple on Saturday.

Sentimental Favorite, Jameel Sewell: It took almost two full games, but Virginia’s passing offense began to show signs of life with about 4 minutes left against TCU. Trailing 30-0, Sewell threw for two touchdowns on deep passing plays. For lack of a better candidate, Sewell is this week’s favorite, throwing for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns. 82 of those yards came on those two touchdown plays, but hopefully they will be signs of things to come. Hopefully our losing streak will end next Saturday against Southern Miss.
