Cavalier Baseball wins in short 5-inning game
The Virginia Cavalier Baseball team defeated Georgetown 4-0, in a game that ended after five innings due to rain. The game ended after one hour and eleven minutes when heavy rain and lightening began. Officials called the game 47 minutes after stopping play.
Junior pitcher Will Roberts improved to 7-0 on the season, pitching his 26th consecutive scoreless inning, the most by a pitcher since Sean Doolittle in 2005. Roberts pitched is fourth straight shut out on the season.
The Cavaliers won their 10th shut out of the season. The team is only one shut out shy of the school record.
UVa scored the first run in the bottom of the first without any hits. Chris Taylor was hit by a pitch and advanced to first. A wild pitch moved him to third, and he went to home on a passed ball.
Steven Proscia went 3-3 with a three run home run in the bottom of the third. Proscia now has 160 career RBIs.
Virginia will take on Costal Carolina on Wednesday at 5pm.
