Virginia Women’s Lacrosse Dominates VA Tech

On October 19th, the UVA Women’s Lacrosse team hosted the Virginia Tech Hokies for a Fall Ball Scrimmage. The Cavaliers were victorious 17-6, due to an impressive second half of play.

Tech opened up the game scoring a quick goal in the first minutes. As the half hour winded down, each team gained and lost momentum but neither team seemed fully in tune with their game. When one team had a lead it was usually quickly taken away.

The first half ended with a brilliant save by the UVA goalie in the final seconds, and the Cavs barely clung onto their lead, 7-6.

Right from the start of the second half, UVA seemed like a new team. They were on fire and repeatedly scored magnificent goals. Many shots were from beautifully orchestrated assists or players sweeping past their defenders.

UVA scored a continuous barrage of goals throughout the half. Virginia basically had possession of the ball for all but 1 or 2 minutes. Tech never could keep hold of the ball for very long without UVA swiftly taking it back and attacking on offense, resulting in their inability to score during the final 30 minutes.

This complete second half domination can be attributed to Virginia’s remarkable speed and agility. They controlled the majority of the draw controls and were able to outrun their opponents during the game.

Through this win in their last fall ball scrimmage, the Virginia Women’s Lacrosse team demonstrated that they are on their way to becoming ready for their regular season in the spring.
